Metropolitan Chicago General Meeting will meet on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Evanston Friends Meeting House, 1010 Greenleaf St., Evanston. (This is one block east of Ridge, two blocks south of Dempster.)
We will gather at 8:45 AM for registration, coffee, and SINGING.
Meeting for worship and business starts at 9:30 AM.
The agenda will include: the mission and future of MCGM, introduction of the new Treasurer, a grant proposal and discussion of MCGM’s Small Grants program, and states of society reports.
Lunch at noon. Evanston meeting is suggesting a donation of $3 to defray their costs. Children under 12 free.
Afternoon program 1 - 2:30 PM, special guest speaker Rob Sula.
Rob is a paleontologist at the College of Dupage. He will speak on “A Spiritual Journey Through Time.”
Using fossils as guideposts, Rob will discuss how paleontology has influenced his own personal spiritual journey as well as the broader implications of the common ground that can be found between science and faith.
Rob has been collecting and studying the late cretaceous fossils of the Hell Creek Formation since 1998.
There will be childcare, but we would like to know for how many children we should plan.
We also need to know how much food to prepare.
Please come and plan to spend the entire day, Meet some new and wonderful Quakers from other Chicago area meetings as well as Friends you haven’t seen for awhile.
